Hot-ends tests by Printing Perspective
An interesting layer adhesion approach between various hot-ends made for the BambuLab series X1C and P available on the market at that date.
Even though the test does not accurately demonstrate the full potential of the Starlex DHB hot-end, it is worth mentioning that at the time of testing, the upper silicon heat block was not shielded from the fan airflow, and Gerard did not have the protruded or brass nozzles available to enhance the results considerably.
A few other factors would need to be taken in account to fully perform a realistic comparison, like:
- Monitoring the heating power in amps and watts of each hot-end during the extrusion process
- Should the thermistor be placed directly beneath the heater as we currently have, or positioned further away from the heater like in the E3D setup, which significantly enhances the actual heating temperature by 5 to 10°C ?
- The nozzle, constructed from a completely hardened material from top to bottom, limits thermal transfer, requiring an elevated temperature to counteract the inadequate thermal performance of stainless steel.
- To achieve more accurate comparisons, it would be useful to assess the actual temperature of the melted material at the nozzle's exit...

With just a simple Heat Sink Connector and a specially designed Base Plate, you can effortlessly mount it onto a Voron Revo Heat Sink, ensuring a perfect and gentle secure fit that enhances your 3D printing experience.
I'm pleased to see that the Starlex DHB 22.5 will be mounted on his Prusa mini. It's an equivalent of the Volcano nozzle, within the same standard nozzle height.
With a melt zone measuring 22.5mm, it is capable of reaching at least 22.5mm3/s with quality filaments, and could achieve an additional 10% increase when using PLA from BBL. Implementing protruded nozzles can lead to a significant enhancement in flow rate, achieving an increase of up to 20% for optimal operational efficiency.
